7 steps for Marketers to survive in  the current climate

Marketing is increasingly being viewed as a process. Here is my tried and trusted simple 3 step model!

Step 1 – Planning

Align your marketing strategy to the corporate plan, create a marketing plan and define your marketing objectives and actions.

Step 2 – Production

Create a robust briefing process and culture in the Marketing team otherwise you will waste creative time due to poor briefing. Create your marketing solutions and get them implemented quickly.

Step 3 – Monitor and evaluate

It is essential that all activities are measured both objectively and subjectively so you know what worked and what didn’t.

In my experience there are some habits that Marketers get into that if addressed will help you save cost right now! Try looking at these and ask yourself could you do better?

  1. Reduce re-work – get it right first time
  2. Improve the briefing process so you get the most out of your agency
  3. Share and re-use approved work in the team
  4. Take control of the digital channel – it’s the fastest growing area
  5. Ensure you approve work quickly and accurately
  6. Co-ordinate the marketing process with others in the organisation
  7. Above all, take control and identify problems
